Discover the authentic charm of the Euganean Hills with a network of hiking trails suitable for all levels of experience. The Euganean Hills Regional Park offers routes immersed in nature ideal for trekking, Nordic walking and trail running, crossing unique environments among woods, vineyards and historical sites. The excursions are safe and well signposted, ideal for families, athletes and mountain lovers.
In the municipality of Torreglia, near the suggestive church of San Martino, there is a path called via pedecollinare, which connects different panoramic points such as Villa dei Vescovi and Villa Pollini, crossing vineyards and rural views. From here other paths start that lead to the magical Calto delle Fate, a spring immersed in a fairy-tale landscape.
Starting from Casa Marina, this route includes naturalistic stops such as Fontana Olivato and wetlands where you can spot slow worms and fire salamanders. The trail reaches the Olivetani monastery and ends at the military base of Castelnuovo, crossing wooded and stone-paved stretches.
The most challenging of the Euganean Hills trails: 3 and a half hours of walking, 330 m of altitude difference, starting from the Teolo-Castelnuovo road. It offers unique geological views such as Rocca Pendice, Forche del Diavolo and Denti de la Vecia, until reaching the Schivanoia waterfall, the only perennial of the Hills.
Perfect for lovers of botany and views, Monte Ceva stands out for its biodiversity and the natural amphitheater that dominates the spa area of Abano and Montegrotto Terme. From the top you can enjoy a spectacular view that extends to the Venice lagoon.
Starting from Casa Marina in Galzignano Terme, this itinerary is also suitable for disabled people and children, thanks to the wooden protections. Along the way you will encounter the remains of the Olivetani Monastery and panoramic points on the mountains Marco, Fasolo, Gemola, Rusta and Faedo.
Trail number 5 of Monte Lozzo starts from Casa Borotto and crosses the trachyte quarry. At Cà Matta, an extraordinary panoramic point opens up that embraces the Euganean Hills and the nearby Berici Hills, offering glimpses of Mount Lovertino, Madonna, Grande, Vendevolo and Venda.
A classic among the treks in the Euganean Hills: over 20 km above the village of Arquà Petrarca, with a marked path (signpost no. 3) and views that alternate sunny meadows with chestnut woods. Also passable in sections, the path is ideal for a full-day excursion.
In the heart of the park, this route connects two reliefs: Monte Rusta, a conical testimony to the volcanic origins of the hills, and Monte Gemola, home to Villa Beatrice d’Este and large vineyards. Ideal for those seeking direct contact with nature and the history of the area.
